Frequently asked questions
Useful answers before we get started.
Questions about a website, ongoing care or a house call? Start here—or contact me if your situation is not covered.
Website projects
Building, rebuilding and improving business websites.
Can you improve the website I already have?
Yes. Sometimes a focused update is enough; sometimes rebuilding is the more reliable and economical option. I will explain which route I recommend and why before work begins.
Do I need to provide all the written content?
You know the business best, but you do not need to arrive with polished website copy. We can shape the page structure and wording from your existing material and a practical conversation about your services.
Will the website work properly on phones?
Yes. Mobile behaviour is considered from the beginning rather than treated as a smaller copy of the desktop site.
Do you offer SEO?
SEO is not sold as a separate service. New websites still receive clear page structure, useful titles and descriptions, accessible content and sound technical foundations so search engines can understand them.
Hosting & ongoing care
Keeping a website maintained after it launches.
Can you look after a website you did not build?
Often, yes. I will review how it was built, its current condition and where it is hosted. If there are risks or limitations, I will explain them before recommending an arrangement.
Will moving the website affect my email?
It should not when the move is planned correctly. Website hosting, domain settings and email are checked separately so existing business email is protected during a migration.
Can you make changes to the website as well?
Yes. Small updates and ongoing improvements can be handled alongside hosting and maintenance. We can agree what is included once I understand how often you expect changes.
Do I have to move my domain name?
Not necessarily. A domain can usually remain with its current registrar while the website is hosted elsewhere. I will recommend the simplest safe arrangement.
Technology house calls
At-home help across the Copper Coast and rural Waterford.
Do I need to bring my computer anywhere?
No. I come to you so the computer, router, printer and other equipment can be checked where they are normally used.
What happens if you cannot fix the problem?
There is no diagnosis fee if I cannot sort it. The applicable €20 core-area or €35 extended-area call-out fee is the only amount you pay.
Do I need to unplug anything before you arrive?
Usually, no. Leave the equipment as it is unless I ask otherwise. Seeing the full setup often helps identify cable, WiFi or peripheral problems.
Can you collect a device instead?
Yes. For work that is better completed in the workshop, collection and return costs €20 in the core area or €35 in the extended area. One fee covers both journeys and can be paid when the device is returned.
Can you help someone who is not confident with technology?
Yes. The service is patient and practical. I explain what I am doing without assuming technical knowledge, and I can write down important steps where useful.
Do you cover Waterford city or Dungarvan?
They are outside the core area, but please ask. The extended-area call-out fee is €35, and for a larger job the journey may still make sense.
Pricing & getting started
What to expect before any work begins.
How much will it cost?
Website work and care plans depend on the scope, so I will first understand what is needed and provide a clear proposal. House-call fees are €20 in the core service area and €35 in the extended area. Common technology jobs have published fixed prices on the House Calls page, and all advertised prices include VAT.
What should I include when contacting you?
Describe what you want to achieve or what is going wrong. For a house call, include your location and the equipment involved. For website work, include the existing website address if you have one.
What if I am not sure which service I need?
That is completely fine. Start with the problem in your own words. I will ask the useful questions and tell you whether I can help.
Still unsure?
Ask the question in your own words.
You do not need to know the technical name for the problem.
